CHAPEL

“Let the children come to Me, and don’t ever stand in their way, for this is what the kingdom of God is all about.”

      -Mark 10:14

Our preschool students are bright, curious, and excited to learn the stories of the Bible!  We hold chapel with the children nine times each year, about once a month from September through April.  Each chapel time lasts between 20 and 30 minutes, in that time, the children get to hear a story, and then do a craft, experience an activity, and/or sing a song that reinforces the message of the Bible story.

Our children use The Beginner’s Bible: Timeless Children’s Stories, published by Zondervan Publishing, and Pastor Kimberly uses stories from both the Old and the New Testaments.

A few Chapels and their Messages:

  • The Good Samaritan helps us explore what it means to be a good friend to others.

  • Joseph helps us think about how brothers and sisters sometimes fight and get upset, but we can always forgive each other and make good choices.

  • The story of the Israelites coming out of Egypt and through the desert shows us some of the promises God makes, and how God always keeps His promises.

Each year we do a Thanksgiving chapel and each student gets to pick three things for which he or she is thankful, which are shared in our hallways.

We also retell the story of Jesus’ birth each December, and the story of Easter each spring, always in age-appropriate ways.
