Rev. Jose Lopez-Chapa

Pastor

Pastor José and his family are so immensely grateful to be a part of the wonderful worshiping community of Fallston Presbyterian Church!

Since being transplanted to Harford County from Northern Michigan, the Lópezes have LOVED being a part of this dynamic community and being adopted Marylanders! Originally from Texas, Pastor José is thankful to God for the journey that has led him to Fallston PC. After graduating from college with a degree in BioEnvironmental Science from Texas A&M University, Pastor José worked for the state of Texas for a short time before entering seminary at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. There, Pastor José met his partner, the Rev. Dr. Melissa López, where they fell in love, married, and graduated from seminary. Upon graduation, they served in different ministry capacities in Dallas, Texas for a couple of years before the birth of their son Noah. After Noah’s birth, the family moved to Northern Michigan, where Pastor José and Pastor Melissa served in ministry together for several wonderful years filled with lots of snow and many delightful adventures, including the birth of daughter Clara! The journey now continues in Harford County where the Lópezes have enjoyed being part of this great community even rooting for the Ravens and Orioles! (Even though Pastor José is a life-long Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks fan, as well as Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and FC Dallas, having grown up in the Dallas area and Pastor Melissa is a life-long Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche fan—the family has genuinely enjoyed rooting for the O’s and Ravens, when they’re not playing those other teams!)

Pastor Melissa is the pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, and the kiddos enjoy spending time with both of their church families!

In his spare time, Pastor José enjoys all kinds of sports—see the note above—as well as art, drawing, painting, creating things, and cooking! Having grown up in Texas, Pastor José is a big fan of all forms of barbecue, but especially Texas BBQ, and loves using his pellet smoker bbq and grill as often as he can! Additionally, he loves Mexican food and was taught how to cook his family’s delicious Mexican recipes by his loving mom.

On behalf of the López family, we are so grateful to God for the opportunity to be a part of such a loving and embracing community. We are excited to see what God is doing and will continue to do with the Fallston Presbyterian Church!
